Our Pedagogic Creed for Christian Education
By CLB. Advincula
1. Christian Education begins with the presupposition that God exists and therefore commits to the supernatural element of a human beings learning process.
2. Christian Education presupposes that God reveals Himself in 2 ways: general & specific. And that all knowledge and the ability of cognition are from God’s.
3. Christian Education presupposes that the Bible is the divinely inspired, inerrant & infallible written word of God and is the sole authorial content for the training in faith & practice.
4. Christian Education presupposes that humankind is created in the image of God and that because of sin, are depraved in nature thus cannot understand spiritual things and are only able to
make choices consistent with its nature.
5. Christian Education presupposes that only by the initiate & continuous grace of God can human beings be freed from his depraved nature and begin to desire, learn, and progress in
Christian learning.
6. Christian Education aims to introduce the non-Christian learner to the Gospel, with the understanding that the education process is one of the means of God’s prevenient grace to
supernaturally free the learner from his nature.
7. Christian Education is a lifelong process and only by a wilful appropriation of its necessity in human survival and flourishing shall a learner fully benefit from its contents.
8. Christian Education has set the glorifying of God as the sole purpose for the converted learner and anticipates the achievement of it by the teaching & applying of the Bible in the context of
a covenanted community of regenerated believers, indwelt by & dependent on the Holy Spirit, where Christ is the head. By extension, God is also to be glorified in secular society.
9. Christian Education; by a relationship of mutual love and humility within the group, begins in the home of the converted believer who submits to the biblical guidance and authority that is beset
for the learner.
10. Christian Education and the process of learning and flourishing of the learner’s spiritual gifts are the sole responsibility of the converted learner. The learner is accountable to & assisted directly
by God. In addition to this, the local congregation assists the learner’s maturity and proper exercise of the learner’s spiritual gifts.
